Core Web Vitals Guide
Understanding Google's key performance metrics.
What Are Core Web Vitals?
Core Web Vitals are Google's metrics for measuring user experience. They're a ranking factor and measure loading, interactivity, and visual stability.
LCP (Largest Contentful Paint)
Measures loading performance. Target: under 2.5 seconds.
- Optimize images and use modern formats
- Use a fast hosting provider
- Implement lazy loading
- Minimize render-blocking resources
CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift)
Measures visual stability. Target: under 0.1.
- Set explicit width/height on images
- Reserve space for ads and embeds
- Avoid inserting content above existing content
INP (Interaction to Next Paint)
Measures interactivity. Target: under 200ms.
- Minimize JavaScript execution time
- Break up long tasks
- Use web workers for heavy computation
